Pulse Reading Practicum

Vasant Lad, BAM&S, MASc
June 19 – 25, 2015

The pulse is a doorway the physician passes through to reach the inner state of a person’s mental and physical health and well-being. Prana (life force) flows through the nadis from the deepest organs and inner pathways to the skin, revealing under each of the three fingers, the doors leading into this inner world so that one can be in tune with the individual’s prana. Reading the pulse is both an art and a science.

Vasant Lad, BAM&S, MASc, Ayurvedic Physician, gives his unique skill of reading the pulse. Students will apply this simple clinical barometer to their own practice. You will learn the theory behind the levels of the pulse and spend hours of being guided through specific aspects of pulse assessment by Vasant Lad and qualified Institute staff.

This seminar is clinically oriented and directed toward practitioners and students of health disciplines.

Marma Chikitsa

Vasant Lad, BAM&S, MASc
June 26 – July 2, 2015

A marma is a vital energy point accessed on the skin’s surface, serving as a bridge between body, mind, and spirit. Touching a marma point changes the body’s biochemistry and can unfold radical, alchemical changes in one’s makeup. Stimulation of these inner pharmacy pathways signals the body to produce exactly what it needs, including hormones and neurochemicals that heal. Marma is both a diagnostic tool and a simple therapeutic measure to balance the doshas and promote health and well being.

Through lecture and practice, Vasant Lad, BAM&S, MASc, will teach the theory and methodology of affecting marma points through the use of oils, touch, gemstones and color to bring the doshas, tissues, and channels back into balance.

This seminar is clinically oriented and directed toward practitioners and students of health disciplines.

Mind & Disease: The Flow of Pathology from Mind to Matter

Vasant Lad, BAM&S, MASc
July 3 – 9, 2015

The Ayurvedic Institute is thrilled to present this summer intensive on the mind. How does the stuff of the mind manifest into a physical illness? How can we better understand mind over matter and mind into matter? As practitioners, how can we begin to treat such subtle disturbances that at times seem to go beyond our understanding of simple vata, pitta, kapha?

In this intensive, Vasant Lad, Ayurvedic Physician, will lead us through the haunting states of mental illnesses and bring us into practical understanding of how the mind flows into matter and how we can effectively address these issues. We will experience both lecture as well as demonstration of specific techniques toward treating certain mental illnesses. He will also lead us through an exploration of how these illnesses come to be manifested by talking about the role of the mental constitution, taking into account the cellular memory from the parents as well as karma the its effect on the mind.

Join us for this intriguing look into the darker aspects of the mind.

Bodywork for Healing: A Hands-On Approach to Therapy
line

Vasant Lad, BAM&S, MASc
July 10 – 16, 2015

Ayurveda offers a profusion of treatment and therapy options. Often a client will come to the practitioner and require a body therapy along with their protocol. Even though we are accustomed to thinking of these body treatments as a part of panchakarma, in this case the therapy will be given outside of the paradigm of panchakarma. This seminar will dive into the numerous body therapies and offer guidelines as to when and how to use them.

Join Vasant Lad, Ayurvedic Physician, and his staff in exploring the use of body therapies as standalone treatments. This is a hands-on intensive that will offer both theoretical knowledge of the therapy as well as a hands-on opportunity to begin to learn how to administer the therapy.
