The Healing Touch of Marma

Live Q&A starting May 18

For thousands of years, Ayurvedic practitioners have used marmani to awaken the body’s inner pharmacy and naturally heal the physical, mental, and emotional layers of our being.

In this 3-part series, dive into the marmani of the body and explore their significance and impact on the physical, mental and emotional states of our being.

What you get:

  • 30 hours of recorded content
  • Additional video and handout materials for supported learning
  • 3 Live Q&A sessions with an Ayurvedic Institute Teacher. These 2 hour sessions provide deeper practical understanding and answers to any of your questions.
  • Course completion certificate

Join world-renowned Ayurvedic physician and author, Vasant Lad, BAM&S, MASc, in this three part series as we explore the vital energy within each marma point, their various indications and contraindications, and how to apply them on yourself, your loved ones, and your clients. You will leave this immersion with a strong understanding of the marmani throughout the body and how to use them therapeutically as well as how to craft a marma session based on your client’s concerns.

Lesson Plan
Part 1: Head, Face, and Neck

Begin your journey with an introduction to marma, the sacredness of touch, and how to become a clear vessel of healing energy. You will also learn some basic marmani this first week to begin familiarizing yourself with the power of this ancient healing practice.

In this section we dive into the opening polarity sequence used to ground and prepare the client for marma as well as the closing polarity sequence used to end a session. This powerful practice can be used to open and close any other treatments as well or can be used independently for healing.

Here we dive into the foundational marmani of the head and face, including general indications and cautions. A demonstration sequence is provided, as always. There is also a bonus session available for your viewing that details various oils and their therapeutic uses in the context of marma.

The final section of this first part of the series covers the marmani of the neck and provides simple and accessible ways to apply them.

Part 2: Torso, Back, Arms and Legs

Learn the marmani of the chest and anterior torso and their related organs and tissues. Vasant Lad demonstrates on bodies with and without breasts so that you can understand the important differences in appropriate application.

In this section we cover the marmani of the arms and hands. The hands contain many nerve endings, so points here may be particularly powerful as well as sensitive in cases of imbalance.

We close out Part 2 of the series with the last of the marmani on the lower extremities. Overall these points are impactful ways to ground Vata dosha or elevated ether and air elements.

Part 3: Case Studies and Pathologies

This final part of the series is all about synthesizing and applying your newfound knowledge of marma. You will practice creating marma sequences as you develop a deeper understanding of the srotamsi (channels of the body) and common associated pathologies and marmani.

Each section features two sessions with detailed handouts, as well as mini video resources on the primary marmani for each srotas (channel) discussed.

Learn about the breath, food and feces carrying channels of the body respectively, their functions, associated subdoshas, common causes of imbalances in each, and which marmani are generally supportive.

Dive into the plasma, blood and female reproductive channels, their functions, associated subdoshas, common causes of imbalances in each, and which marmani are generally supportive.

Close out the series with an exploration of the muscle, bone, and bone marrow/nervous system channels of the body, their functions, associated subdoshas, common causes of imbalances in each, and which marmani are generally supportive.

I feel like not just my work as nurse but also my life in a human body has become so much more fluid, translucent and trusting. There is so much more that I need to learn before I’ll be able to effectively support others with the introduction you gave here, but every time I apply some of it already the results are so confirming and sometimes like magic.

Pavani

Overall, I cannot thank enough Dr. Lad and entire AyurPrana team for this amazing process and support. In nearly 14yrs, this is the longest spell of feeling better without dreading the next relapse. This has also allowed me to reap the benefits of my sadhana to remain in awareness. I am beating up myself for not doing this sooner! Will continue this journey…..

Pranayama Participant

I loved the ways in which you explained things to us, the joy and the good energy you transmitted. Thank you so so much! And I am grateful to Dr. Lad, such an honor to practice with him and learn from his expertise! This immersion was worth every cent, glad that I overcame the stingyness of doing something just for myself.
