Accepting applications for the 2026-27 school year
Move beyond symptoms to identify and treat the root cause of imbalances in clinical settings. Our Ayurveda practitioner course provides comprehensive training to become a certified Ayurvedic practitioner.
Study directly with Dr. Vasant Lad through 798 hours of advanced Ayurveda training that bridges ancient wisdom with modern integrative medicine. Our clinical experience exceeds NAMA requirements—giving you the confidence to practice with mastery.
An Ayurveda practitioner is a clinical expert who diagnoses complex imbalances and creates comprehensive treatment protocols using herbs, bodywork, marma therapy, and advanced assessment techniques.
You go deeper than lifestyle recommendations. You read all seven layers of the pulse. You design custom herbal formulations from scratch—not just prescribe classical preparations. You integrate pranayama, meditation, and yoga therapy for body, mind, and consciousness. You understand both Ayurvedic and Western pathology, confidently bridging two medical paradigms.
This is the level where you become a true clinical Ayurveda practitioner, not just a counselor. This Ayurveda Practitioner Program (ASP2) builds upon your foundation from Level 1, expanding your scope of practice, assessment precision, and therapeutic tools to treat deeper imbalances with clinical confidence.
We don’t just teach theory—we forge clinical mastery through our Ayurveda training course. Our supervised clinic hours far exceed NAMA requirements because we know the truth: confidence comes from repetition. You’ll see real clients weekly, participate in Grand Rounds, observe Dr. Lad’s consultations, and present cases to senior practitioners. By graduation, you’ll have logged more hands-on clinical experience than most Ayurvedic training programs offer in their entire curriculum.
Study in a gurukula (literally translates to “home of the guru”) setting with Dr. Vasant Lad, BAM&S, MASc—observing him diagnose, formulate, and treat panchakarma clients. This isn’t watching videos. This is direct transmission, with the Ayurvedic physician who has trained thousands of practitioners over 40+ years at the Ayurveda institute Asheville. You’ll assist with pulse reading, blood pressure assessment, and client instruction under his guidance. This is the apprenticeship model that has preserved healing wisdom for millennia.
The Ayurvedic Institute is the oldest Ayurveda school in the West with the longest-running Ayurveda Practitioner Program. Our curriculum has been refined over four decades and our graduates practice successfully worldwide. This program works because it’s been tested, improved, and validated through thousands of certified Ayurvedic practitioners.
We prepare you for the real world. Our Ayurveda certification course online options and in-person training ensure you’ll understand Ayurvedic pathologies through both traditional samprapti and Western medical frameworks. Understand when to refer, and confidently collaborate with MDs and other healthcare providers. This integrative perspective makes you invaluable in modern clinical settings.
Move beyond prescribing generic formulas. Our herbology training in this Ayurveda certificate course teaches you to design personalized herbal formulations using rasadi panchakam—the logic of taste, potency, post-digestive effect, qualities, and special actions. Mix custom compounds in our herbal pharmacy. You become an artist of herbal medicine.
But mastery doesn’t stop at herbs. You’ll learn the full array of Ayurvedic therapeutic treatments through extensive hands-on practice: perform shirodhara (oil streaming therapy), administer various types of basti (therapeutic enemas), and more. Learn proper oil selection, herbal paste preparation, client positioning, draping techniques, and contraindications. Practice and receive direct feedback from master therapists, and build the muscle memory that creates confident practitioners. You become an expert of both herbal medicine and therapeutic bodywork.
